About Georgia

Georgia is a country located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. It is bordered by Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, Azerbaijan to the east, and the Black Sea to the west. Georgia has a long and complex history, stretching back to the ancient times. The earliest known inhabitants of the region were the Colchians, an ancient people who lived in the area from the 2nd millennium BC. In the 8th century BC, the region was conquered by the Kingdom of Iberia, which was later absorbed into the Kingdom of Kartli. During this period, the Georgian language and culture began to develop. In the 4th century BC, the region was conquered by Alexander the Great and became part of the Hellenistic world. In the 1st century BC, the region was conquered by the Roman Empire and became part of the Roman province of Iberia. In the 4th century AD, the region was conquered by the Sassanid Empire and became part of the Persian Empire. In the 5th century, the region was conquered by the Byzantine Empire and became part of the Byzantine province of Lazica. In the 8th century, the region was conquered by the Arab Caliphate and became part of the Emirate of Tbilisi. In the 11th century, the region was conquered by the Seljuk Turks and became part of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum. In the 12th century, the region was conquered by the Kingdom of Georgia, which was founded by the Bagrationi dynasty. During this period, the Georgian language and culture flourished and the country became a major regional power. In the 16th century, the region was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and became part of the Ottoman province of Georgia. In the 18th century, the region was conquered by the Russian Empire and became part of the Russian Empire. In 1918, Georgia declared its independence from Russia and became the Democratic Republic of Georgia. In 1921, the country was occupied by the Soviet Union and became part of the Soviet Union. In 1991, Georgia declared its independence from the Soviet Union and became an independent nation. Today, Georgia is a democratic republic with a population of over 4 million people. It is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the World Trade Organization.
